One almost expects to discover the smell of
freshly baked bread wafting through the courtyard on entering
Pyrgos Blue Villa. Perseverance and patience has transformed
this once forlorn traditional dwelling into an idyllic family
holiday home.
You will be transfixed by breathtaking views of the island
as you traverse the footpath leading up to the house. A large
courtyard welcomes you with open arms. You will love exploring
each room - in the lounge a clutch of cushions adorns the
customary Santorinian couch. An alcove serves as an informal
dining area for hearty family meals prepared in the well equipped
kitchen.
Greek music from the radio drifts through the house and
lures you to explore further. An arched passageway opens
up, which leads you to the sleeping quarters. The master
bedroom is light and airy and has a view overlooking the
Caldera with double doors leading to a second enclosed courtyard.
The private outdoor shower is the bonus.
Two charming single bedrooms - which may be just the medicine
to eliminate sibling rivalry - further compliment the sleeping
arrangements in the main house. An additional double en-suite
bedroom with private entrance, is reached via the second
quad. After a day exploring the island, getting the kids
sorted, lighting the evening barbeque in the courtyard,
do take a glass of local wine up to the roof terrace to
enjoy the spectacular sunset and contemplate on the magical
nature of the place. |
